By and large, the mugshots come from the Internet sites of local jails. But in all instances, they are images made available by government agencies. The Mugmaster may personally browse our image sources, or we may employ scripting to capture images.

No matter the method or the source, we follow usage requirements and guidelines as set forth by the agencies. It’s been our experience, however, that agencies do not typically provide much detail on what they feel is acceptable use of their sites.
